mobile home title

hello, I am trying to help someone find their title to their manufactured home they purchased back in 2000... the home is a 1999. she has it on her own land. the finance company she went through is no longer in business. we went to the dmv and she said that there was no taxes paid on the home so they can not pull it up in the system.. I need to know where else I can go to get the title or file for a lost title.. because no one seems to be able to help me. I have also been to the clerk of court with an affidavit to de-immonilize mobile home because we thought it may have been tied to the land. we went back to the dmv and they said that the serial number is not in the system so they cannot find it .. basically they will never be able to pull it up because of no taxes were paid on the mobile home. please help me and let me know what I can do..
