mobile home roofing

If I place lite colored metal over my asphalt shingles on my roof, will it help on my A/C bills? Attic space is only about a foot. I am getting to much heat gain from my roof. My A/C cannot keep up in hot weather. I have a new 4 ton system trying to cool 1700 sq. feet. Thks.
